Nature of Work
Under the administrative direction of the Planning and Development Director performs a variety of tasks that involve planning, zoning, economic development, neighborhood development and code enforcement issues.
Recruiting Requirements
- Assists public with interpretations of zoning and land-use regulations pertaining to permit applications.
- Performs inspections on yard setbacks, landscaping requirements and final occupancy inspections.
- Completes research and prepares reports on zoning, planning and code enforcement issues.
- Reviews and approves a broad scope of residential and commercial permits.
- Performs site-plan reviews for all aspects of land development which includes lot splits, lot consolidations, subdivisions, zoning changes and variances.
- Works closely with the public, developers, contractors, realtors and interoffice departments.
- Considers and uses urban design principles when reviewing and approving residential and commercial permits.
- Assists the Planning and Development Director at public meetings and will provide representation in the Director’s absence.
- Assist the Planning and Development Director in reviewing and analyzing plans taking into consideration accepted city planning principles, zoning practices, sensitivity to surrounding neighborhoods and other factors in order to assess and make recommendations.
- Attend and participate in meetings during the day and in the evening for various Boards and Commissions, including the Planning Commission and the BZA and acts as Secretary to take and maintain minutes according to Roberts Rules of Order.
- Prepares meeting materials and the public hearing process
- Assists with office administrative tasks as demand may warrant.
Salary:
$25.04-$34.21/hour
